Magic Microbes Worm Farm

Vermicastings (compost), Worm Tea, and Fat Happy Worms transform ordinary plants into extraordinary producers of flowers and veggies using the power of nature to work magic in your garden.

Fall is for planting, and we are expanding our herd. We have been worm farming for over a decade and are expanding our operations so we can share the bounty with our community and develop scalable systems to use vermicompost in sustainable gardening systems. The amazing and immediate impact of worm compost is…well…Magic becuse of the Microbes. Couldn’t resist.

Our current worm production system uses a mix of high quality pre-composted materials, some grit for their gullets (they are really just chickens of the soil), a steady supply of food, and high quality H20. Those are then transformed by the worms into living compost that we brew to order into compost teas or sell finely sifted compost to add to soil mixes or top dress garden beds.

As the worms process the material, they produce a microbes and nutrient biome that convert the soil nutrients into forms that can be taken up through the plant’s root systems. Basically, adding worm castings or worm tea microbes to your garden allows your plants to use all of the compost and organic matter you’ve added to your beds.

The other feat of magic is the fact that having a healthy microbiome helps to prevent disease in the soil and on the foliar areas of the plants (when applied as a worm tea). This elixir of worm tea is mixed on site, delivered door to door in a bubbler, or available fresh at the farmer’s market, so that the microbes are alive and well and can settle into your garden or organic farm.
